The opportunity    

Council are seeking to recruit a trade qualified Carpenter to join the Infrastructure Delivery team to construct and maintain timber/concrete/steel or composite structures, fabricate and install formwork, fix steel and pour concrete.

To be successful in this position, you should hold a Certificate III Civil Construction (Bridge Construction / Maintenance) or Trade Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery; experience in construction and maintenance techniques for civil construction works including reinforced concrete and timber structure; and a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role (heavy timber construction and/or maintenance experience will be highly regarded.  You should possess the ability to read construction plans and estimate quantities; experience working at heights; and hold a NSW WorkCover High Risk Work Licence to carry out dogging, rigging and scaffolding work.

Key accountabilities

The tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Carrying out construction and maintenance works for concrete, timber, composite and steel structures
  • Carrying out stormwater construction and maintenance works including pipe laying
  • Undertaking general labouring and traffic control duties as required
