The opportunity    

Council are seeking to recruit two Senior Operators in the Water and Sewer section to support the Construction and Maintenance Team Leaders in planning and coordinating the delivery of renewals program, and operation, repair and maintenance of water supply and wastewater network assets associated with water and sewer treatment and transfer infrastructure.

To be successful in this position, you should hold trade qualifications in Plumbing, or Certificate III in Water Industry Operations and/or a substantive working history within a relevant industry at a supervisory level; a minimum of 4 years' experience in water and sewerage network infrastructure, construction and maintenance, or other relevant construction industry experience; and the ability to be an effective leader in a team environment providing motivation and development to staff members.  You should also hold relevant WorkCover and technical certificates including Confined Space Entry, Backflow Prevention, Traffic Controller and/or Implement Traffic Management Plans.

Please note it is a requirement of this position to participate in a rotating on-call roster.

Key accountabilities

The tasks will include but are not limited to:

• Assisting the Team Leader in programming, planning, prioritising and coordinating team activities for water and sewer network asset renewals, condition assessment and maintenance work
• Providing site supervision and support to a team of operators
• Constructing, maintaining and repairing water and sewer infrastructure
• Producing Works as Executed information
