As the Coordinator for the Communications and Community section, you will provide leadership and supervision to the team to develop relationships with community groups and organisations, coordinate community engagement practices and deliver corporate communication services.  To be successful in this position, you should have tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Social Sciences or Journalism or demonstrated industry experience; highly developed communication skills and an understanding of community engagement principles and practices.  You should also possess project and event management experience.

Key accountabilities

The tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Managing delivery of communications services using multiple channels including media relations, graphic design, and advertising
  • Coordinating community engagement processes to support decision making and planning
  • Applying community development strategies to work in partnership with community groups and organisations to support events and activities within the Shire
  • Reviewing and promoting Council's Communications Strategy
